Iraqi-American artist, Luay Issa, influenced the Modern Art Movement in Iraq through his inventive use of different materials and mediums. After graduating summa cum laude from the Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture & Design, Luay utilized his talents in creative ways and was thus able to share his artistic vision through his artwork –some of which might be interpreted as complex yet beautiful in the eyes of an Artist.
In 1995, Luay decided to further his studies by obtaining a Master’s degree in Stage Scenery Design. His graduate experience in academic research only further solidified his love of art and awoken in him a new passion for exploring art in different cultures. The various connections he made teaching as a University Professor for many years have also left footprints on his artwork.
Using his background and expertise as a member of the Iraqi Artists Association, Luay helped co-found the Iraqi Association of Environmental Design, which helps connect and support Iraqi artists of various backgrounds by providing opportunities for cross-cultural collaboration between Iraqis and other diverse populations in an effort to raise awareness about environmental issues and preserve Iraqi art. Ever since, he has enjoyed experimenting with different techniques in Oil painting, Acrylic painting, and Photography.
In his later years, Luay devoted his time to constructing several 3D artworks that conveyed his passion and love for Interior Design. Now, he serves as a member of the Concord Art Association and hopes to utilize the skills he picked up through his travels and his visual expertise to inspire new projects.
